See video excerpts of the hearings in which AB 209 failed in the California State Assembly Judiciary Committee by clicking on the icons below.  The entire unabridged video is available through www.ADAlawsuits.com.  Many have commented that it appeared that a large number of the witnesses opposing the measure did not have a good understanding of its provisions.  Said Assemblymember Leslie: "you would think from the testimony, that we were canceling the ADA, eliminating the ADA."  The bill provided only appropriate safeguards to curb the unwarranted abuse of the law by unscrupulous attorneys and professional plaintiffs.  Many have speculated about the undisclosed financial motivations of a majority of witnesses testifying in opposition to the bill.
